I know I’ve been sharing many different smoothie recipes for a few weeks, and that totally out of the blue. I just realised that the “liquid happiness category” of the blog was a little short on articles, which is why I decided to hopefully please your eyes and bellies with various smoothie combinations for you to enjoy of all their inner goodness. I’ll wait a little longer and am still thinking about giving you my best tips to create delicious smoothies, that do not only taste incredibly but have naturally beautiful virtues – let’s see if I’ll be able to put that down later.
For now, let me introduce you to a fruity happiness – today’s Berry, Avocado & Orange Smoothie. I do not think there’s something better on earth than the fresh, acidic and yet sweet taste of berries in the morning. And yes there’s an avocado in this pink smoothie (what the hell is he talking about?! That’s it, he’s crazy…)! This is not only a great way for people that do not like bananas or are allergic to them still to add creaminess to their smoothie, but it also is full of healthy monounsaturated fats, vitamin K & C and potassium, which helps reducing blood pressure and maintaining electrical gradients in all our cells, without giving the smoothie a weird vegetable taste. And there’s still a whole lot of magic into it! The orange brings a whole lot of citrus limonoids, helping to fight varieties of cancer, as well as vitamin C by the shovelful (which is known to help you absorb iron better!). Gogi berries, one of the most incredible superfood around, are full of iron, vitamin A, fibres, minerals and many antioxidants; it only raises the blood sugar level slowly, so you will not experience fatigue afterwards.
It’s not only pink, cute and good-looking, but it also is full of good ingredients that are good for the body and the mind. Hope you’ll like this recipe as much as I do; there’s not many things I prefer than mixing so many goodness and ending up with a true belly bliss. Cheers peeps!
PS: As you might have noticed on the picture, I just forgot to put other berries in when preparing the model smoothie haha! Guess I had many things going on in my mind at that point, even though that’s not an excuse. But just so you know, I’ve tested and approved this recipe many times, so no worries! I might seem to be very organised, focused and a little “detail-freak” (or perfectionist if you’d like) all the time, but reality actually is something else – not too far from it though…!
Super Berry Smoothie
Portions: 1 serving. Preparation time: 5 minutes.
- 125g of mixed frozen or fresh berries (raspberries, blueberries & blackberries)
- ½ avocado, flesh only
- 1 orange, peeled
- 1 chunk of fresh ginger (2 cm), peeled
- 1 c.s of gogi berries
- 1 tbsp of almond butter
- 150 – 175ml of plant based milk (almond, oats, spelt…)
(1) Add all the ingredients to your blender or food processor and blend on a high speed until obtaining a smooth and glossy pink liquid. Drink directly. Enjoy!
