Monday Motivation – 19th of September

« Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud. » – Maya Angelou  I’ve been trying to read a little more for a couple of days. Creating recipes, writing articles, studying, practicing yoga and socializing do not leave that much space for another creative activity like reading. However, I know that I need that “literary brain food”, that sparkle of inspiration, these meaningful lines that usually make me fly away. Not only does it inspire me to bring a few changes now and then in my routine, but it really opens my mind and spirit to new ideas, discoveries and thoughts. Anyway, in one of my desperate attempts to take time and read a few lines, I came across Maya Angelou’s work and a few of her famous lines. Two of them really struck me; and this is one of them…

Monday Motivation – 15th of August

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough”. – Oprah Winfrey In the last “Monday Motivation” article, I shared my take on Oprah Winfrey’s beautifully written book What I know for sure. Going through it again this week, one specific phrase really amazed me and seemed to be echoing just perfectly with what I was living at the moment. If you’re not a yoga practitioner, you might not know that after a class, for the final five minutes, we’re lying on our mats, in Savasana (aka. The Body Pose), eyes closed, feeling all the emotions and sensations that are going through our bodies. This is the perfect time for the teacher to share something personal but yet universally recognised, some philosophical thoughts or even an emotional and heartfelt story. What our teacher told us a few days ago is so true and yet so hard to apply on a day-to-day basis: “Focus on what you’re doing well, on what …

Monday Motivation – 1st of August 2016

Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.” – Oprah Winfrey Many months ago, a friend of mine offered me a book. That might sound a little silly but trust me, it is not a normal book. And now that I do have a purpose of writing down my feelings about it, I am using one of my Monday Motivations to share it. “What I know for sure”, written by that fantastic, strong, hard-working and passionate American philanthropist, Oprah Winfrey, is a genuine treasure. From page to page, with all these meaningful words, terrific examples, sparkling and awe-inspiring life lessons, the reader is enabled to nourish her routine, thoughts and feelings with liquid happiness. Even though I might well call it my bedside book, being in love with every single thing in it, there only are a few things that affected deeply me. This quote is one of them.

Monday Motivation – 18th of July 2016

“Let us live for the beauty of our own reality” – Charles Lamb I’ve been thinking a lot about writing such an article. But if you’ve been wandering through my “About” section, you might have noticed that everything that is related to our vision of our own body and our definition of beauty is very dear to me. I know that it might sound strange on a food blog, and that some people that cannot understand that might judge me for what I am about to share; but I am not doing this in a self-pity way, or trying to show off. What I am aiming at is showing you all that look is unhealthily essential in our society, and that people who are suffering from body distortions, eating disorders, or simple feelings of self-disgust are more present than we think. For last week’s National Nude Day, I posted a special photo on Instagram, which served as a brief introduction to today’s article. This very special Monday Motivation is going to be about our definition …

Monday Motivation – 04th of July 2016

“My advice is, never do to-morrow what you can do today. Procrastination is the thief of time. Collar him!” – Charles Dickens I am so excited to introduce you today to this new page, my “Monday Motivations”, which will hopefully succeed in showing you life and routine from a different point of view. I’ll try to emphasise all the beautiful aspects of life, the do’s and don’ts for a happy living as well as to tell you some of my stories, in hopes of inspiring you and making your heart a little lighter. To start off, I’d like to present you one of my favourite English writers, Charles Dickens. I just adore this phrase; it is so true and yet so difficult to apply in a day-to-day basis.
