Cashew Cream Filled Gingerbread Cookies

Those that have been sticking round with me for a while know how fond I am of winter, its comfort, silence and amazing flavours. Even though I now am on the West Coast of the United States for a little while, it is just as if my soul lingered back in the snowy mountains, smelling those scents of hot cacao, crispy fires, cinnamon cookies and gingerbread mixes. There is nothing like novelty and freshness, adventure and new horizons, but no matter my love for the sun, the sand and all those new discoveries within easy reach, my heart still belongs to my home country, Switzerland, to all those I left, those I love.         It is in this very happy and bright melancholic mindset (yes, I have never been merrier and more grounded!) that I am sharing today a recipe that I have created a while ago, just before leaving. And this is when you tell me gingerbread is a Christmas and winter thingy – well, not for me! Just like there’s …

Grain-free Double Chocolate Chip Cookie

If you’re looking for an easy, quick, amazing, mouth-watering and not vain at all cookie recipe, well you’d better choose this one. When the colder months arrive, I usually am desperately looking for those deliciously chocolaty comfort foods, not only because chocolate is life but because my body needs some sun within if it does not get it from the sky itself. This does not prevent you from making them in the middle of summer of course. Did you know that a cacao tree is called a Theobroma Cacao, which means “Food of the Gods” ? And that cacao is actually one of the best stimulants + containing more antioxidants than any other food on the planet ? Well now you know! Anyway, those cookies are absolutely fantastic, scrumptious as a dessert and even better when eaten as a snack, as they are indulging but guilt-free and actually very good for you. Full of good and quickly metabolised fats, healthy carbohydrates and some superfoods, those really are a fridge’s must-have (you’ve still got to eat …

8 Ingredients Pancakes – A Simple, Quick & Mouth-watering Breakfast

I am a breakfast person. And as far as I know, I do not believe there is something trendier than pancakes for breakfast. Even though some other breakfast ideas do attract the spotlights, such as chia puddings, healthy granolas or smoothies, I’ve never seen so many pancakes on my Instagram feed or on the Internet. And the reason is we, food bloggers, are creating healthy versions of them, which do attract people’s attention more and more every day. I’ve been asked multiple times to share a pancake recipe on the blog, and I guess those people’s dreams have come true! (For a non-vegan recipe, you can click here !) There is nothing else you would want to wake up to; there is nothing else you would want to pour maple syrup on; there is nothing else you could sacrifice your sanity for. Well, let’s be honest, if you have got someone to prepare them for you, that’s even better. Waking up to those beauties is like discovering a hundred banknote in the side pocket of …

Easter Almond Scones w/ Coconut Yogurt & Raspberry Jam

I feel like I’ve kind of always been sensitive, not in an emotional way (of course, but that’s not the point here), but more in way of being affected by change, and that from very early in life. Whatever may the change be, related to the seasons, the temperatures or the weathers, just as well as environmental changes in general, I am so deeply affected by it that my emotions, mood and energy levels are all topsy-turvy. I do love change, which helps us break away from our own routine, from our habits, which makes us do things we would never have done, take risks, put ourselves in question. But as much as I love it, those emotions, mood and energy rollercoasters that come with it are very much tiring. For instance, since we’ve passed the Spring Equinox, I’ve been feeling either on a high or very tired and drained energy wise, as if this astronomic event has changed something in me. I do not know how you feel about that, but what I know …

Achingly Delicious & Spicy Chocolate “Pot-de-Crème”

It’s been a month since the blog celebrated its first ever birthday. It’s been two months since I felt like experiencing a deep change. All my day-to-day events, whether these are enriching or disturbing, feel like being in total harmony, lining up in my life like tiny soldiers. Even the darkest ones do have their place in that happiness equation. Did I need to pass some kind of “one year” milestone? Am I accepting my life, its ups and downs, and all its surprises, much more than before? I don’t know. What I know for sure though is that life is beautiful, and that I’ll announce all those amazing things to you as soon as possible.

Festive Chocolate Cake with a Hazelnut Frosting

Don’t you feel like these days are the worst of the entire year? You’ve celebrated Christmas with your families and friends, eaten way over your belly capacity, received wonderful presents – books, clothes, unidentified objects or money – as well as touching words & wishes, all of this with glitter on your face and dancing shoes on your feet. And now what? We’re crawling out of bed, wearing sunglasses to hide our lack of sleep, walking (and not tiptoeing) with a coffee in one hand and a glass of lemon water in the other, trying to flush out all the dirt we’ve accumulated in out bodies, crying because we’re not being offered gifts anymore, waiting for it to start all over again on New Year’s Eve. (Well ok, I am pushing things a little too far, but I am sure every one of us felt at least one of these things haha!).
